We are releasing Sync
Checker version 4.2:
- Added new features for Sync Checker snapshots. When displaying their contents, it now becomes visible whether inaccessible objects have been omitted during the scan. For snapshots of operating system volumes, version and build numbers are shown.
- The internal architecture to process Access Control Lists and macOS property lists has been optimized.
- The timing behavior when accessing values from the Open Directory database has been changed. The ensures better performance and avoids possible deadlocks with slow database connections.
- Fixed a critical issue when creating Sync Checker snapshot documents from system volumes: A problem with the detection of firmlinks could cause the folders /usr/libexec/, /usr/share/, and /System/Library/ to be omitted from the snapshot.
Sync Checker is a diagnostic application which can check if two folders or volumes are perfectly synchronized, i.e. if they have exactly the same contents. When creating backup copies of valuable files, or when making sure that two computers or mobile devices work on the same set of data, the status of being “in perfect sync” can be very important. In order to be safe and to prevent loss of data, you can let Sync Checker verify whether a pair of file collections is matching exactly or not.
